Welcome to the Shelby County Alabama Homeschoolers website. This is the sister site for our Yahoo group of the same name. A link is provided below.

Our group is set up for homeschooling families in and around Shelby County, Alabama. It is a place to share ideas about homeschooling our children and meeting other homeschool families in our area, with whom we can identify in the sometimes difficult task of home-school.

We share information on curriculum and sites which have helped us in our journey and hope that we will be able to help you as well. We also have monthly member meetings which coincide with a game day, field trips, classes and socializing.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Please share comments and opinions.

Many public school children are not getting the one on one attention they deserve in the public school. Some children are 'left behind' or left out, despite the "No Child Left Behind Act". Homeschool is an opportunity for some children to have a better, more focused education wherein they are able to learn in a manner that is suitable for them. Homeschool provides the child the opportunity to move forward as fast or as slow as they are capable.
